Who Am I?

Réal Rodrigue

My name is
Réal Rodrigue

I was born in 1947 in Baie-Comeau, on the north shore of the St. Lawrence river, and I have lived most of my life in the Montréal region: first in Boucherville, a suburb town located on the south shore of the St. Lawrence river, east of Montréal; and then in Montréal itself, where I still live.

I went to high school at the now defunct Collège Sainte-Marie in Montréal, from which I graduated in 1967 with a specialization in Political Science. And then I went to Université Laval in Québec City (Sainte-Foy), where I got a B.A. degree in Social sciences (Political Science) in 1969. I then came back to Montréal, at the Université du Québec à Montréal, a new university created in 1969 and incorporating the former Collège Sainte-Marie.

In 1974, I enrolled in Library Science at McGill University, from which I graduated in 1967 (M.L.S.). I then got a job as librarian at the Libraries of the Université du Québec à Montréal where I am still employed.

First I was a classifier and indexer (1976-1982); and then I was named head of the Acquisitions department (1982-1992). I briefly came back to my first task as classifier and indexer (1992-1993) before moving to the systems office of the library.

I have there a certain number of responsibilities related to the implementation of new technologies in the library. Among these, I am Webmaster for the library and I am advisor for the on-line catalog of the library (BADADUQ).

In addition to my interest in new technologies and Internet, I am also involved in genealogical research. So, on this site, I offer you my own ascendency as well as informations on the RODRIGUE families of Québec (including the descendent genealogy of the RODRIGUE ancestors).
